Accessibility Statement

Everyone should be able to shop here

A pair of shoes is no use to you if the website selling them gets in your way. Stryde Footwear works to keep this store usable for every visitor, whatever they bring with them.

That means building for people who browse without a mouse, who rely on a screen reader, who need larger text or stronger contrast, and who process information differently. We have already reworked large parts of this site with those visitors in mind, and we treat it as ongoing work rather than a box that has been ticked. Every time we add a page or change a feature, accessibility is part of the job.

The standard we build against

Our target is Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, and we aim to meet it everywhere we reasonably can. Those guidelines rest on four ideas:

Principle What it asks of us
Perceivable Nothing on the page may depend on a single sense. If you cannot see an image or hear a video, the information still has to reach you another way.
Operable Every button, link and menu has to work however you choose to navigate, including by keyboard alone, and without rushing you.
Understandable Wording stays plain, layouts behave predictably, and when something goes wrong we say clearly what happened and how to fix it.
Robust The code underneath is written cleanly enough that browsers and assistive technology can interpret it correctly, now and as they evolve.

Ran into a problem? Tell us

If something on this site blocked you, confused you, or simply would not cooperate, we want to hear about it. Write to info@stryde-footwear.com and we will look into it and reply as quickly as we can.

To help us find it faster, include:

  1. The address of the page you were on, copied from your browser.
  2. What you were trying to do at the time.
  3. The browser, device and any assistive software you were using.

The W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative publishes a short guide on contacting organisations about inaccessible websites. It is worth a read before you write to us, as it covers exactly what makes a report easy to act on.
