At last, a barefoot shoe that can actually keep pace

Over the last few years I've cycled through half a dozen barefoot brands, and Stryde Footwear is the first one that lives up to what it claims. Traction on slick roots and loose gravel is outstanding — I knocked out a 14-mile trail run without a single slip. The toe box is properly roomy, not the token "a bit wider" you get elsewhere, and the sole stays thin enough to read the ground without leaving your feet battered on rocky stretches. Since making the switch, my plantar fasciitis hasn't acted up once. Money well spent.

Solid shoe, but give yourself time to adjust

Coming from thick-soled sneakers my entire adult life, I honestly didn't expect much. Those first several days were rough — my calves ached in a way they hadn't since my sports days. Stryde Footwear's guide suggested easing into them slowly, and sure enough, by the third week I was hitting 8,000 steps daily with zero pain. Three months in and still going strong

I bought these after a lot of research into zero-drop footwear, and they've held up better than I expected. No sole separation, no wear on the upper, despite daily wear plus a hike most weekends. The flexible sole and the absence of built-in arch support took some getting used to, but my feet feel stronger for it. Only wish is a version with a chunkier outsole for rougher, more technical trails.
